Certified to de-manufacture, recycle, and refurbish every type of electronic device in an environmentally responsible manner, ERI today has the capacity to process more than a billion pounds of electronic waste annually at its eight certified locations, serving every zip code in the United States.

But how did we get here?

Founded in 2002, ERI's unique blend of "green DNA” and cybersecurity focus allows us to safeguard the aforementioned organizations, people, and the environment completely with respect to data security, data privacy, and environmental issues related to IT and electronics asset disposition.

Although there are thousands of companies in the United States that do some aspect of electronics recycling, ERI recycles an estimated 5% of all e-waste recycled in the United States -- through the largest, most efficient shredding system in North America.

Unlike competitors focused more on sales than compliance, ERI has a robust compliance and regulatory affairs team that is larger than our team of sales professionals. We continue to be focused on growth, but at ERI, we know the best way to increase our business is to effectively and responsibly protect yours.

ERI is committed to provide safeguards for our clients, our employees, and the environment. We are, in fact, the first company in the world to hold NAID AAA, R2, and e-Stewards certifications. What that means to you is that we are certified at the highest level possible for data destruction, sanitization and environmentally responsible recycling. It also means that we are subject to periodic and unannounced audits by third-parties and clients totaling over 60 audits per year across our eight facilities – an audit per week on average! We don't just say we are compliant, we consistently prove it at a level unmatched by any competitor.

About Us

ERI is the leading recycler of e-waste in the U.S. Founded in 2002, ERI’s Chairman and CEO, John Shegerian, believes the company got to where it is today thanks to a strict dedication to its “green DNA.”
Shegerian and his team of green industry All-Star employees have labored to keep ERI a totally green organization — from developing and building the world’s largest electronic waste shredder and a fleet of hybrid vehicles used by the sales team, to the electric forklifts used on the shop floor and the precise methodology used to recycle the thousands of tons of electronic waste that pass through the company’s doors daily. Even the furniture used in house is made from recycled materials.

Everyone is part of the solution.

Now the largest recycler of electronic waste in the world, Fresno, California-headquartered ERI is licensed to de-manufacture and recycle televisions, computer monitors, computers and other types of electronic equipment.
ERI processes mordirecte than 250 million pounds of electronic waste annually at its locations in California, North Carolina, Washington, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts and Texas. ERI operates the largest, most efficient and highest-capacity shredder in North America. The recycler’s two state-of-the-art slow-speed shredder components are capable of handling more than 15,000 pounds of electronic waste per hour.

Our Services

ERI has eight certified facilities in the United States, with an annual capacity to shred up to a billion pounds of electronics per year making ERI highest capacity in the industry by far. With over a million square feet of indoor-secured facility space and football field length shredders, ERI is unmatched in its ability to responsibly recycle electronics scrap (e-scrap).

ERI’s proprietary state-of-the-art e-scrap shredding, CRT glass cleaning systems, and flat panel video display device (LCD, LED, Plasma) processing technologies allow ERI to transform each device into a commodity that is recycled.

Batteries and ink cartridges are removed from any applicable devices and recycled by ERI’s audited service providers.

All materials, other than video display devices, are processed in ERI’ s e-scrap shredding system – the largest and most technically advanced electronic shredding system in North America.

This process allows ERI to bring materials down to the separated commodity level such as plastic, metal, and glass. Resulting commodities are sent to downstream processors, all of which are audited and pre-approved through ERI’s rigorous Downstream Vendor Management Program.

ERI’s fully integrated operations with advanced proprietary technologies, allows ERI to have the smallest downstream footprint in the industry – that means reduced chain of custody issues and guarantees that no electronics will end up in a landfill or that inoperable electronics will be exported to developing countries.
